So I try to stay pretty organized, but there is always deep cleaning that can be done around my house. I decided for the month of January I would focus my attention on the closets! My mom always says “out with the old, in with the new” when it comes to clothes. Whenever we get something new to wear, we’d better find one shirt that we can get rid of. So, this month that is what I’m doing. Completely reorganizing the closets! Here are a few tips to help you organize your closets:

*Figure out what items you truly wear, and get rid of the items that you don’t wear anymore.

 

*If it doesn’t fit, donate it! Plus, if you lose weight, you’ll probably want to buy something new anyways.

 

*Put like items together, Long sleeve shirts can be separated from short sleeve shirts, coats together, pants together, skirts together, you get the gist.

 

*Color coat your wardrobe, this will also help when trying to find that one top you want to wear. Blacks on the far right, colors in the middle, and whites on the left.

 

*Access the layout of your closet to make sure there is no wasted space. In our closet we are now using the whole top shelf to house part of our stock-pile. I never realized how wasted the space was being used before!

 

*Most importantly, keep your shoes organized and only keep shoes that you truly wear!

Here is our new calendar and daily schedule system that I made up. It’s in our kitchen, so everyone can see it. I found a frame I had in the house already, painted an existing black matt green and brown to match my home decor, and whipped this homemade calendar system up in just a few hours. I LOVE it to say the least and it’s kind of cool! Look at what you already own and see if you can come up with your own calendar system. It’s way more fun when you don’t have to pay anything extra for a project!

Here is a close-up of the calendar. (Yes I need new dry erase markers, which is why the calendar is not filled up more.)  I included a Weekly Menu spot so we would all know what is for dinner each night. The little drawer below our calendar is where I will store the dry erase markers.

Here is our daily schedule when we spend our days at home, which is at least 4 days a week. There are other days when we have activities or I just need to run some errands.

I hope this helps you get organized, and I hope you will make a daily schedule. Children are much more behaved when they are in a routine, and it helps me make sure I’m spending plenty of time with her; instead of being on the computer all day!

Wow, why didn’t I think of this! My house didn’t come with a lot of storage, so I’ll take all the help and advice I can get. LOVE this idea. Purchase some scrapbook paper holder organizers (at Walmart, Target, Hobby Lobby, just to name a few), and use them to store your cutting boards or your handi-wrap, foil, Ziploc bags, and more. If you can think of any other uses let me know.

Isn’t this so cool?!? Above is the container of grocery bags that I made. You take your grocery bags, roll them up, and store them in a disinfectant wipes container! For the full tutorial go HERE. Instead of fabric I just used scrapbook paper and scrapbook tape. I thought the ribbon tied the whole thing together. Enjoy your weekend, and have fun organizing all your grocery bags!

So are you a bulk buyer? Some people think it’s gross, some find it a time to taste test their favorite candy, others find it a way of life. From flour to cereal, dog food to candy, pasta to spices, lets face it there is a lot out there to buy. I personally would consider myself a bulk buyer because it’s affordable, however, I hate storing my food in those clear plastic bags. Recently I made a trip to the Dollar Tree in hopes to find something that would store my bulk items; and so that I won’t have to constantly deal with torn spilled food in my pantry! I think I found the perfect solution and I just have to share it with you!

Ok, so this is just some of my bulk buying, but aren’t these containers just perfect!?! For just $1.00 per container I’m able to keep my food fresh, and organized. Here I am storing jasmine rice, organic oats, powdered sugar, chocolate chips, and pretzels (I also buy all my dry beans in bulk). These are items that I only buy on sale (in bulk and at my stock-up price), however, if I have a coupon for a name brand product and I can get it cheaper than in the bulk section, then you can bet I’ll buy it. If you are a bulk buyer, then consider this storing option or if you have your own system, then please share!
