Red Bell Peppers

I posted last week about Ecosmart organic pesticides and shared the great giveaway that they are offering our readers.  If you have not yet entered, make sure to read my post HERE to read the details and get entered.

Beans
137
Yellow & Zucchini Squash

Ecosmart was kind enough to also provide me with a bundle of my choice and I chose the

Safe Plant and Garden Value Bundle.  I have been using the organic weed killer, the garden fungicide and the garden insect killer on my garden and I have been very pleased!  Last year, my squash plants got some sort of fungus where they turned white and then died.  I was so sad and I noticed a week or so ago that my neighbor’s squash has the same thing.  I have been watching mine closely and have sprayed all my veggies twice with the fungicide and they are doing great as you can see from my pics.  We even picked our first tomato the other day and my 5 year old ate it and loved it.  I can not wait for the squash and beans to be ready to pick!  I love grilled veggies and have a great zucchini bread recipe I love to make..

My roses are doing great too and the insect killer has done a great job of keeping the bugs off them.  I am loving this stuff and really loving that I can spray it while my kids are right there and not worry about them breathing it.  I also love feeling confident about feeding them what is growing in my garden and not worrying that I have used something harmful to their little bodies.

If you are looking for organic pesticides for your garden, Ecosmart is a great option to try that I have been very pleased with.

Organic Gardening & Natural Bug Spray Giveaway

by at May 18, 2010 in Gardening

talktuesday

Talk To Me Tuesday

Today’s Talk To Me Tuesday is about Organic Gardening.  A very frugal way to get organic vegetables at a great price is to grow them yourself.  You do not have to live on a huge amount of land and have acres of garden place to grow your own produce.  We are a family of four so having too many plants just makes for waste.  This year we planted one yellow squash, one zucchini squash, one sweet 100 tomato plant, one red pepper plant, two green pepper plants about 10 bean plants and some basil.  This will be plenty for us to use throughout the summer and not have to buy any of these things.

.

A few tips:

  1. Only plant as much as you will realistically use or give away to family and friends.
  2. Have a plan and make sure to follow all the directions for planting each item.  Make sure to note hoe large the mature plants will be.
  3. Watch very closely for disease or bugs so you can catch them before they do serious damage.  There are tons of great natural bug spray out there to choose from.
  4. Using organic insect killer keeps it safe for your kids to eat and help and gives you peace of mind about serving it to your family.
  5. You can often find great deals on seeds in the Spring at the drugstores.  I can usually find them for 5/$1.00 making it super frugal!

.

OK, so how about a great giveaway to get you on your way?!  Ecosmart has offered a great giveaway to solve all your organic gardening needs.  I will be posting my review of these products tomorrow so stay tuned:)
