My Shopping Trip- 4 Stores, 2 Kids, 90 Minutes!

100_4377

OK, so I did the unthinkable today and succeeded!!  I had some shopping to do and knew I would have to take the kids with me.  I spent some time this morning getting everything ready while they played, gave them lunch and then out we went!  We went to Rite Aid, Albertsons, Walgreens and Vons and were back in under 90 minutes.  I will say that by the time we were done at Vons, they were done as well and ready for naps.  I brought them home, put them in bed and got a picture of everything before I put it all away.  You can find all the details of these deals from my What’s In Save At Home Mommy’s Cart? post and my Vons and Albertsons weekly deals posts.  The only thing not listed is the brown and powdered sugar boxes pictured that were clearanced at my Walgreens and the Rite Aid brand apple juice for $1.50 that I needed to keep them from owing me money at the end.  Here are my totals broken down by store and I only calculated any rewards above what I used to pay:

Rite Aid:

Final Cost= $6.23

Total Saved= $31.35

Albertsons:

Out of Pocket= $14.95
Got back $3.00 catalina for Quaker oatmeal

Final Cost= $11.95

Total Saved= $35.56

Walgreens:

Final Cost= $5.06

Total Saved= $17.69

Total Saved= $56.36

Total for my whole shopping trip= $57.19

That may seem like a lot to you but I did get a gallon of organic milk, a ribeye steak, produce and a lot of other stock up items.  The vitamins alone are normally $11.99 EACH!  How about you?  How did you do on your grocery budget this week?

My Albertsons Deals- FREE Flour, Eggs And Butter!

by at November 14, 2010 in Albertsons, Shopping Examples

004

Ok, so I posted about my trip yesterday to Albertsons but I had to go back to a different store today and see if they had any Betty Crocker Brownie Mixes.  I went to the store on Olive and they had tons.

Betty Crocker Brownie Mixes- $.49 each when purchased with Buy 10 Save $5.00 promo

Used (4) $1.00/2 from Vons Thanksgiving Coupon Booklet

Final Price= 8 for FREE + $.08 overage

Wesson Oil- $1.99 each when purchased with Buy 10 Save $5.00 promo

Used (2) $1.00 off from Vons Thanksgiving Coupon Booklet

Final Price= $.99 each

I bought these 10 items first and then when I got to my car, I went to put up my receipt and noticed 3 little coupons that had come out of the Catalina machine!  There was one for FREE dozen eggs, one for FREE Albertsons 5lb flour and one for FREE 1lb Albertsons butter.  I read the coupons carefully and there was nothing on there about having to buy anything else so back in to the store I went.  I checked with a cashier to be sure and she said I could just get my FREE items even if I didn’t buy anything else!  I got my 3 FREE items and checked out with my coupons!

Final Price for everything pictured= $1.90!!

I have no idea why I got the FREE coupons or if everyone is getting them, but be sure to check your catalina coupons when you check out to see if you get them too!!  Has anyone else gotten these?

My Albertsons Trip 82% Saved

My husband is in Guatemala for a missions trip so my mom came out from Virginia to help out for a while.  I actually got to go out shopping this afternoon by myself which is always so nice.  All of the items pictured above are included in my weekly Albertsons list except for one great deal!  The avenu coupons that I posted about HERE included a $1.25 off Breyers ice cream coupon, good up to 6.  Here is how this deal worked:

Breyers Ice Cream- $2.99

$1.25 off ecoupon from Avenu

Get a FREE Mrs. Smiths Pie when you buy a Breyers automatic store promo

Final Price= $1.75 for the pie and ice cream

Yummy!!! There is no limit to how many sets you can buy getting the free pie but the avenu coupon will come off up to 6.

All told, I paid $16.78 and saved $75.88 or 82% for a lot of baking items that I will definitely be using in the baking season already upon us!  The store I went to was out of the Betty Crocker Brownies but there is a coupon in the Vons Thanksgiving coupon booklet for $1.00/2 which would make them FREE.  I will be heading to a different store before the promo ends.  Have you worked this promo yet?  Even with coupons, these are really good prices!
