Why I Do All This

by admin at January 5, 2010 in From Me, Reader Deals

I get asked all the time how much money I make doing this or why I put so much time and effort into something like this.  The following is the main reason I continue to pour my time and effort into this site!

“Ok, first let me brag on how awesome God is!  I was really low on floss…well not anymore!
I bought:
4 pkgs of Reach floss (for 60 cents total, not each!)
Jif peanut butter and Smuckers jelly (for $3, my splurge)
2 Finish dishwasher detergents (free for both)
4 pkgs of Stayfree pads ($1 total, not each!)
tube of Colgate toothpaste for $1.25
Reynolds foil for 80 cents
3 cans Hunts tomato sauce for 18 cents, not each
2 folders for 40 cents, not each
The rest was tax which brings my total to…
$10.11
Praise the LORD!!!  (and thank you, save at home mommy for teaching me how to do this.)

Oops, I forgot about my Revlon eye shadow for free.”

I love getting emails like this!  They remind me to keep plugging on and give me a much greater reward than money for my time and effort.  Thanks for sharing!

Reader’s Target Deals

Dani emailed me today with some great deals she was able to snag at Target.

“I found a free nunchuck coupon when you buy a wii on the Target coupon website.  And since we just bought a wii last week, I took my receipt and coupon down to Target and I got that nunchuck for free!  They didn’t even charge me sales tax!  Crazy.
Then I picked up a connect four game for $5, apple juice for $1.24, 12 pack of diet Pepsi for $1.29, a disposable camera that they paid me $1.15 to take off their hands.  All of those items I had coupons for.  The marshmallows were an impulse buy at $1.67.  So I got all that for $8.44.
Not bad, I’d say.”

Thanks Dani for sharing!

A Few Reader Deals Around Town

by admin at November 12, 2009 in Bakersfield Deals, Reader Deals

Thanks to all of you who keep me up to date on deals you find around town!  It is such a help since I can’t be everywhere and check all the prices, especially on those hidden deals or deals at stores with no ads.

Ranch Market has ground beef for .78 cents/lb.
Superior Market has the following:
~beef clod roast 1.99/lb.
~chicken drums or thighs 89/lb.
~chicken breasts 99/lb
I found great deals on Nexxus at Walgreens:
There is a $4 off Nexxus hair care in the November coupon book and I found the following tonight at the Walgreens in Bako:
One of the Nexxus mousse cans (I think it’s the 2 oz., but it’s *not* considered a trial size) is priced at $3.29 ea. (w/ the coupon, this is free).
Nexxus Therappe shampoos are priced at $5.79 ea. ($1.79 w/ the $4 off coupon). And the Nexxus Humectress conditioner is priced at $9 something ($5 or so w/ the $4 off coupon).
I bought three of the conditioners at around $9.99 ea., used the $5 off $25 purchase coupon found in this week’s ad and then used the $4 coupon in the November savings book (one of these coupons took off a total of $12). I used 3 $2 RRs from a previous purchase and paid $7.41 OOP for all three conditioners that would’ve normally cost me $9.99 or so each prior to tax. What a deal, huh? :)
On another transaction, I bought 3 Nexxus shampoos, 3 Nexxus mousses  and 2 Softee coconut oil canisters (priced at $1 each). I used the $5 off $25 purchase coupon and the $4 off Nexxus hair care coupon. The Nexxus coupon took off $21.87!!! I ended up paying $4.37 total OOP for all of these products!

Thanks Sonja!
