Benefits of Drinking Warm Lemon Water In The Mornings – This Is What I Do!

I got into this habit of drinking lemon water a few weeks ago, and there is no going back. The health benefits are just too good, and it’s a refreshing way to start the day (unlike my usual sugary coffee).

 

Remember this:

 

Lemons are one of the most alkalizing foods for the body. Sure, they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they’re alkaline (the citric acid does not create acidity in the body once metabolized). Lemons contain both citric and ascorbic acid, weak acids easily metabolized from the body allowing the mineral content of lemons to help alkalize the blood. Disease states only occur when the body pH is acidic. Drinking lemon water regularly can help to remove overall acidity in the body, including uric acid in the joints, which is one of the primary causes of pain and inflammation. After reading up on this for quite some time I decided to give it a try, and I really feel like I’m doing something good for my body. I now actually crave it each morning!

How To Do It: 

Each morning I fill 1 cup of water in a mug and microwave for about 1 minute. I want the water to just be warm, NOT hot. Then squeeze 1/2 the juice from 1 lemon into mug, only use fresh lemon juice. DO NOT throw the squeeze lemon half away, put it in your garbage disposal in your sink, this will freshen it right up!

 

Sometimes I add a little honey as well to sweeten it. Honey has many health benefits of its own! Also, I drink mine through a straw. This helps keep the citrus off my teeth, which can break down the enamel. A good idea is to not eat anything for at least 30 minutes after drinking your lemon water. This allows your body to absorb the water before consuming anything else.
