Hi – just tried this at the Vons here in Rancho Bernardo. The Catalina didn’t print, but the really sweet cashier (guy) took $4.00 off my total. (I did two transactions) :) Wonder if it’s just regional or by store? hm.
Did you buy all four in one transaction? They have to all be in one transaction for the catalina coupon to print.
I had a cashier at VONS tell me,”I’ll let you do it this time, but so you know, you would need to buy 2 more [of the sprayer starters] in order to use both the $5 off and the get one free coupons.”
After questioning her further about why it was “not allowed,” she said it’s called “piggybacking” and it’s not allowed.
Do you know anything about this?
No I have never had any issue with that. The BOGO coupon is attaching itself to the free item and you are still paying full price for the other item allowing you to use the $5.00 off. Sometimes cashiers just like to give you a hard time or there are all sorts of reasons that go around. It will always depend on your cashier and you should always feel free to ask for a manager to make sure.
Hello again, yes, I did all four in one transaction. Two starters and two refills. It worked out okay, though. :)
Yeah, I figured it was because I went to my “favorite” cashier. I really need to not go to her. She smiles, but it’s like the crocodile in Peter Pan. “Never smile at a crocodile…” Hahaha :)

I got some this morning in Mira Mesa! Thanks so much. It worked out great.
I tried this in Chino Hills and the cashier would not let me, she was the cashier from h…, of course a long line formed behind me and my 4 year old was not behaving. So I tried in Corona and it worked :) Now I’m going to submit it for SC Johnson Rebate.
I had trouble this morning at the Vons on Coffee. I was told the same thing that you needed to buy two more sprayers to use the $5 coupon. Of course the cashier said she would let me do it this time but just in the future know that it cannot be done. She said the training they received taught them they could not do this.
I just got back from the Vons on Coffee, I had an assistant manager helping me, and he had a minor meltdown and told me I shouldn’t be allowed to use all of these coupons. I ended up having to do it in two separate transactions, but I did end up getting 2/$2 Catalina coupons. All’s well that ends well, but the customer service was not good tonight.
That is so weird! It all has to do with the cashier. I am glad it all worked out though.
Oh my gosh… i did it again :O) big smiles… i purchased 2 starters, 2 refills and not only did it give me the $4 coupon but again it printed another (2) $3 and (2) $1 for a total of $12 off coupons. THANKS AGAIN SAHM.

Can someone explain to me. i’m so new to coupon don’t really know the rule. Several people have reported that they had problems but you really should not. The free refill coupons apply to the refills and the $5.00 off apply to the starter kits. I did it with no problem at all. You might try a different cashier and see if you have better luck.
I know this post is kinda old, but because of this post, I saved big $$$ at Vons yesterday!
I am in N. Las Vegas, and went for the Scrubbing bubbles deal that I read about here. I picked up a few other things as I did not know if the Cat. would actually print because there was no shelf tag about it (my Vons is great about tagging shelves when there is a Cat)
So at checkout, of course I got the hassle from the cashier about you can only use 1 IP coupon per item and told her if they were not going to honor their policy posted online she could cancel the whole transaction. So a front end mngr. came over and pulled out a copy of “their” written policy and she said they cannot accept “copies”. I informed her the IP’s were NOT copies and they each had a unique number and showed her the bar code with the unique numbers. So she said to let it all go thru.
Anyway, after checkout, the Cat machine started going crazy printing! So I grabbed my receipts & Cats and walked to the car. When I looked, there was a total of $12 in cats from Scrubbing bubbles!!!!
I bought 2 starter kits @ $6.99 – $5 coupon = $3.98 oop
2 refills @ $3.50 – free wyb starter kit = $0 oop
PLUS, $4 cat for buying 4 Scrubbing bubbles items
2 $3 cats that just say “thank you from scrubbing bubbles”
and 2 $1 cats that say the same as the $3
so this was a $8 money maker!!!
Now not factoring the cats, and going on some other sales posted here, with my total purchase, I spent $30.96, saved $69.35 for a savings of 71% (add the cat in and that goes up!)
Going back today to buy a couple Tri-Tips with my Cat’s… YUMMMMMY

I usually HATE shopping there, but occasionally they have some screaming deals that make it worth the headache to deal with that store!
That is awesome! The same thing happened to another reader who did it twice and got all those cats each time. I think it ends tomorrow so I might try it once more if I can round up the coupons in time.
