With a heart to help others and a generous spirit, Joe and Linda Wingo founded Angel Food Ministries in 1994 to provide food for friends and neighbors who were struggling financially. Today the Angel Food program now is helping provide food relief to more than 500,000 families each month.

Several churches in town are host sites (distribution sites) for Angel Food Ministries, where you can get a box of groceries to feed a family of 4 for $30 each month (in addition to other special boxes such as 11 lbs of Chicken breasts for $21 this month).  Compassion Christian Center has been distributing food since November of 2008.  Other churches in Bakersfield include Grace Baptist Church, Higher Ground Church and Canyon Hills Church.

    the deadline for online orders for the month of September is Friday, September 18 via a credit/debit card. (to be distributed at the host sites on Saturday, Sept 26)
