Here are some basic coupon rules and tips to help your shopping trips with coupons go smoothly.
~~ You can use one and only one store coupon and one and only one manufacturer coupon per item. That means if you buy 4 packs of Huggies diapers at Target, you can use 4 Huggies Target store coupons and 4 Huggies manufacturer coupons for a total of 8 coupons. The type of coupon is printed at the top usually to the left of the expiration date.
~~If you purchase 2 items, you can use a Buy one, Get one free (BOGO FREE) coupon AND a $$$ off one coupon for those two items. The BOGO coupon would make one of them free and then the $$$ off one coupon would take that amount off the price of the other.
~~You can use a Buy one, Get one free coupon along with a Buy one, Get one free sale to get 2 items for FREE. The only exclusion to this is if a store’s coupon policy specifically prohibits this. In this case, the store is taking a loss on part of the cost and the manufacturer is taking a loss for another part. The store will still be reimbursed by the manufacturer for the coupon that you use.
~~ Make sure you read your coupons carefully so you will not be left confused and out of a deal at the store. Make sure your coupons are not expired and know what varieties and sizes they include.
~~ Know your store’s coupon policy. This helps you know when you are right and you should stand up for yourself and the deal you are trying to get. You can find links to many of them back in the Getting Started Guide.
~~ To get the best deals, match store sales with store coupons, rebates, register reward deals and manufacturer coupons. The more savings possibilities for an item, the better!
